Thanks Gene.

The part that makes no sense to me is I transferred my Old-Prog-Outlook-Contacts to my iPad in two easy steps.

Lainey and Dean, if you are not doing anything..... I can assign each of you some problems.
Sorry, contrary to the nasty rumors, I do have a life. Or at least I'm going to pretend I have one during your computer crisis.
I don't think I've ever seen anyone have such a simple endeavor turn into such a complete horror show, as you. I transferred everything to to my new Mac in a little over an hour, if memory serves.
Have you considered an abacus?

Certainly is reassuring to see these verifications of the user-friendliness of the Mac and how well it works and all. HPH

In fairness to Mr Mac, I think the pict problem is from Google's Picasa. The wave keyboard was not Mac specific, so I knew that was a trial and error item. Apple said I had to specify before hand that there was items to transfer from a second drive.... I don't agree with that. Outlook, well, there did offer a workaround to download another prog on a trial basis.

I wish that I had kept up with this thread. If you need files converted to a pdf or an image format, just send them over to me. I don't have an FTP site but zip format will work for even fairly large files as email attachments.
No problem. The CutePDF program was free, could not have been easier, and had no file size limit; my biggest was 80mb. It just took a while to find it. I used zip files 20 yrs ago when I was doing a newsletter.

I just checked in on this thread to see why it is still active after all this time. Too funny. Go get 'em, Dave!

With the email contacts, it might be simpler to just input them again in about 2 hours...rather than bitchin' for 2 hours

Some of us have a lot more friends than others.

Turns out I knew more than the Apple employees. I used the same process on the new Mac as I used on the iPad and the contacts showed right up.

Since some of you enjoy my trials, you'll like this. I figured I would forward the emails that I wanted to keep to myself and open them in the Mac. It gave me a chance to see if I really wanted each. I got really fast and really good at this. Too fast and too much it seems. I'd done maybe 40 or 50 and had 10 or so to go when suddenly they stopped coming to the Mac. Not good. I had already showed them as sent and had deleted them. Turns out Comcast threw up a block in the cloud and the last 10 went into their crapper! Thankfully I did have a separate back-up for them.

What kind of emails do you like to save? I keep very few and regularly clean house. I don't like clutter.

Lainey,
With the exception of some spam, I have every mail from the last 13 years.
If I dug around I could probably find another 3 or 4 years.

I did trash a whole bunch from a friend who mails a large amount of " mature content" to me.
