Geesh, I bought and set up two net books since he started this thread, and introduced the nine year old granddaughter to email, and I'm not retired like Dave.

I'll show myself out.

And you're not old and slow like Dave and his current computer.

I had it easy...I wasn't transferring any files. Just givin Dave a little
You should know by now that I move about as fast as the "horse".
Yes, I am sending this from my new 27" iMac.
Of course the black cloud of computer woes still never ends. First off, I paid Apple to do the transfer. They only did the C-drive and missed everything in the D-drive, which was thousands of photos.
I am not about to haul this computer and my old computer back to the store as they suggested. The new wave keyboard did not work as I'd hoped, so that goes back today. Picking up another one Sat. Apple was unable to transfer my 100 Outlook email contacts/info; claiming my prog was too old - it was only 10 years! Nice start, right.
Oh, the fun continues. I was able to transfer all my thousands of photos over, including the D-drive BUT somehow in the process the Picasa face recognition feature got activated and transferred as well. Now there is a jpg for EVERY FACE in EVERY PICTURE. The count says 'exceeds 10,000'. I may have to delete them one at a time - not sure??
A friend who's used Mac's for ever made a 6-hr round trip yesterday to help me sort things out. We got a lot of things cleaned up and sorted out but the face issue and contacts issues remain for now.
I love it when I hear things like, damn, I never saw that before - a flash drive that won't work in a hub. Hummmmm. Now he knows where the black cloud is.
Lainey and Dean, if you are not doing anything..... I can assign each of you some problems.

Don't want to rub this in, but I transferred everything from my old Dell to this HP, including photos, data files, e-mail (including addresses) in about 6 hours, with no problems. Now that I've said that, I'll probably start having Dave's problems!
