We have a couple drive ins in the area that have closed and the land is just overgrown. We have a two drive ins that are still operating, one in MA, one in RI. We went to the one in MA a couple times with S2000 pals. The first time it was June and just too cold for a drive in in MA. The next time it was warmer and it was fun, but I'm not into movies all that much. I think I would prefer to be more comfortable while watching a movie.

The sound did come through the car radio; a walkman or ipod nano is also an option for the cars without radios, Dave.

Got to have snacks when watching a movie. We eat and drink (well mostly I do) in the car ALL the time. I never travel without snacks and drinks. It keeps away the boredom when you are stuck in the passenger seat.

I do recall the drive in being a passion pit. I remember going once as a kid with a friend. We piled a bunch of people into the friend's parents' car. The parents had been separated for a while and must have thought it was a good night to kiss and make up.

They were making out in the front seat, steaming up the windows. Not too classy when you have your kids and their friends and another adult neighbor with you. It was rather weird.
