Shooting the Breeze 17-19

I've lost three close car club friends - two this week. One age 79; other age 94. And another last month age 95. I known all three for over 40 years.

Dave embrace the fact that you had those friends for 40+ years.
I can count on one hand, the friends I've had for that long, with fingers to spare.
Sure I've had folks I've known that long who are friendly but many years go by without talking.
Sustained friendship is a rare thing. at least in my world.

Jerry, it is pretty amazing how a dozen and half people who started friendships within the newly formed Michigan MGA club in the mid-70s are still best friends today. Back then we all wore young men's clothes (much thinner) and had full head's of hair. The glue that made that all happen was the 79 year old that just died. He ran things during all the formative days (scheduled meets, collected dues, wrote the newsletter, cooked the brats, brought the extra beer, and most importantly welcomed everyone). He put people first over anything to do with the cars. Clearly a very special person with many accomplishments including being part of the Sickle Cell Anemia Research Group that not only discovered the treatment for the disease, but a screening method to prevent the crises and the progress of the disease.

Sorry to hear about your friends, Dave.
These days I always have several sympathy cards in my desk, ready to send out. Sadly, I've used quite a few this year.
We arrived in the Syracuse area of NY. Drove through some torrential rain in the Albany area. Thankfully, weather improved, sun came out. We are headed to my nephew's home in a short while. We had time for Rick to sample a couple porters at a local brewery. Just OK beer, no purchase made. I told my nephew's wife not to worry about our stop for some "relaxing" before the visit. She said not to worry, "It's (being with kids) less painful if you're not sober." LOL... Can't wait to see them.

^ I've started the less painful solution already - its seems to work.

No booze today, just home from colonoscopy, gotta wait 24 hours. Very short recovery from this one. Next one 6-8 months from now.
I have friends that I started to school with when I moved to California in 4th grade. Our 50th high school reunion 4 years ago was the best one yet.

6-8 months? Is there another issue or just being cautious?

I hope none are suspicious. Did they all get removed?
