The time has come
No, it's not a joke. Here is the listing:

So far no bites. Like I said yesterday, I half hope I get my price, I half hope I don't. I was just out in the garage and I have mixed feelings. We'll see what happens.

I can see it all now:
In 30 years Adam posts on Antiques/S2K.com that he just put Dad in a Skilled Nursing home, but six months earlier, he found his Dad's old S2000 in a barn, up on blocks, and bought it for $500.00. He then restored it, and took his 90 year old Pop for the ride of his life. "I wish Dad had never sold it" he was heard to say.

Well, if you think that answer will be the same 5 or 10 years from now then maybe he doesn't have the connection to the car that I thought he did. I know I think about selling the Healey from time to time. All the time I put into it keeps me from acting on that impulse. I tell myself that I will use it more and get more involved in club activities when I retire. Oh well. Eventually we will all lose all our toys. I guess it is all just a matter of when.
^ Yep, he says that now, but I wonder about down the road. He may regret saying no. But I guess we all have our regrets, so you can't really base your decision on what he may or may not want. I do think you will regret not driving it to SF 2013!
Rob, this past summer I had the opportunity to do something very special to me. I have two grandsons (18 & 17) who live in Florida that came up for a visit, and both really like the S2000. It was exciting for me to be able to teach both of them how to drive manual tranny cars and especially the S2000. The smiles on their faces after they could drive it was one of the best feeling I've had in a long time.
Don't sell your car, maybe someday you can teach your granchildren the same thing!

It feels like it’s on rails. It hugs the road. You feel like you are part of the road, with the wind in your face . . .
Rob, if money or space are not forcing the sale I think the question you have to ask yourself is simple:
When you read lines like those above will you miss the ability to recreate that experience?
For me it's not about kids or grandkids but the pleasure a true top down sports car brings. I don't get same feeling in my Audi, even tho it hugs the road great, and I doubt you get that in your new BMW or old Si.

Rob, I've gotten to know you quite well since getting in touch with you about my first article about the Vintage group for the home page. It has always been my privilege to support the S2000 registry that you took mainstream from an idea that germinated here on this forum, courtesy of Legal Bill. I have exchanged PMs with you in the past and have always enjoyed reading your posts about the S2000.
I am sad that you have decided to sell your S2000 but times change as do perspectives and I am sure you arrived at your decision after a lot of thoughtful introspection. I love my S2000 but am not quite as meticulous about its upkeep as you are. I have always believed that you would some day take your car to Pebble Beach. Thinking about that made me feel happy as it would not only mean that a modern Japanese car would get its place in the sun, but also because it would be one of the cleanest examples there is. There is no better advocate, champion or essayist for the S2000 that I can think of other than you, and I for one was really looking forward to the year 2027.

I will add my voice to all those that are asking you to reconsider and sincerely hope that you will keep this car. The way I see it, this car found you and came to a very good home. If it had a life of its own and could express its feelings I am sure it would be very dejected to be leaving your side. I can only hope that whosoever buys it next will be as diligent about taking care of this car.
If selling, I hope that you will release the car to a good home and owner. But that said, I still think the S2000 and you belong together and I look forward to more inspiring words from you as your love affair with the S2000 continues.
There are a handful of people on this forum that inspire me and keep the flame burning within for the S2000 and it is my hope that they never ever part with their S2000. You rank among those few. I hope the S2000 stays with you as long as you can drive it and then passes on to one of your sons when the time comes. Not saying anything new or different to what people on here have already stated, but for what its worth, I thought I'd share my feelings. Good luck.

I hope it never sells.
