The Vintage Weather Thread
Thank you, I did. Age is just a number, right?
Does not sound like fun, Dave. You two are most determined! After our first walk chasing butterflies and birds with the camera, I told Rick I was DONE. We stopped to eat our picnic lunch in a shady spot. Since we had cooled off a bit, we made a stop at another nature trail. Total walked only three miles and it felt like ten! We broke out the bug spray, but if we don't get Lyme Disease, West Nile Disease or poison ivy after today, I guess we will count ourselves lucky. I could have waited for the butterflies and birds to show up in my own yard.
Jerry, it felt pretty sticky to me, not just hot. I dislike winter, but this heat/humidity isn't fun either.
Happy BD Lainey. We have butterflies & birds all over the place in our backyard. A wren's family is making so much noise in the corner of the porch I am ready to go a shake them all out.... hopefully they will be on their own very soon. Usually I am ok with no A/C and top down but today really tested me. The other couple we were traveling with, who are younger, found it a little rough as well. She was pouring water down his back while driving. But, we still had a great time and I had one of the best egg omlets for a late breakfast that I've had in years. We passed up eating at the motel and found a little cafe in a little town that was packed with locals.
The first Friday we were in Paris it was 97. We got off the plane, dropped our luggage off at the hotel, and went on a private six-hour tour of Montmartre and Les Invalides (Napoleon's Tomb). I almost did not make it to the end of the day. We walked a lot up and down the cobblestone streets of Montmartre for a couple of hours and had lunch at a café with no A/C (there is very little in France). I was too hot to eat much. I made it through Napoleon's Tomb, but when we got to the Army Museum I told the +1 and guide to go without me. I went into the café and sat with my feet propped up on a chair. I almost face planted several times I was so tired. But I was determined that we would make the most of the day and we did!
