Lainey I never realized how bad the plowing where I grew up (my neighborhood is a lot like yours I think) was until I moved to Vermont. Here in Vermont they just keep going until they hit pavement I remember growing up the city plow would go by once at about 40m.p.h. and that was it basically they were grooming the road! I do think a big problem where you are and I grew up is there is nowhere to plow the snow too.
Rumor years ago was that they had to keep the plow blades at a certain height to avoid man hole covers, etc.
About Marshfield I saw a news interview with a homeowner who claimed that the seawall was over 60 years old and that it was known that it needed to be repaired or replaced but he claimed the town did not want to spend the money on it.
As for the weather here we REALLY need a break from this cold it hit minus 15 last night!

hey it's snowing, lightly mind you, but they are predicting another 4-6 today and tonight..
you know annoyance snow.
Awoke and went to the bathroom this morning.
Why is the water in the toilet running....?
No it's not.
Hmmm What is running ?
Head for the cellar, one of the outdoor faucets apparently froze and popped.
At least the water was all outside. So water is shut off now and I'll deal with it in the spring when it warms up.
We've been here 15 years and never had anything freeze.
