I hope you can get a contractor! Good luck. What a mess...I told the +1 when he left to go to work this AM in Laurel, MD (where JHU/APL is located) to be sure to leave no later than 3 because of impending snow. It started snowing about 30 min ago here and of course he was still up there. He said "it's not snowing here." Of course not - the storm is moving south to north. We are getting 5-8" (I have a feeling it might be more than that) by the time it ends at noon tomorrow. Guess we couldn't keep dodging the bullets.

A year's worth of snow in one month is not a good thing. Heard your total is now two years of snow.

Bill, sorry you have all that going on. We were fortunate that two of the three storms didn't leave us as much snow as you had, but yesterday we were the "jackpot" in MA with the 22". Hoping we don't run into issues with the ice. The snow tomorrow may be "our storm" again, but hopefully just 3-5" And, they are watching weekend weather.

I was getting a bit stir crazy, headed out to do some errands, main roads are looking good, except for the huge snow mounds at intersections.

BTW, Robb, new smoke detector purchased and installed. Hopefully, no early AM chirping tomorrow.

Thanks all. I got home a couple of hours early today and moved a few tons of snow away fro the back of the house. The stains on the ceiling are bigger. I meet with the insurance adjuster on Wednesday.

We had the heating wires on our house before we replaced the roof.
We added a lot of bituthane iceguard underlayment and did all of the right things so this would not be a problem again.
WRONG!!!!!

so we've had a few issues but none that have been real bad.

Prior to the roof replacement I do recall one winter when i just plugged in the wires and left hem on because I didn't want to deal with issues.
That was until the electric bill showed up the next month
It was almost $500 to keep them on for the month.

I'm sure that's a better deal than what ever havoc not having them on could have caused. When I lived in Acton, CA, we had electric bills of $900 in the summer sometimes. (It was around 110° in the day and the high 70s at night.) Between me hating being hot and having a 20' by 40' in ground black bottom pool to filter, it got expensive. My ex, who still has the house, put in a ton of solar panels and I heard that the electric company pays him, now.

Our storm has dwindled somewhat. Light, fluffy snow, which is good. Pretty much all schools and the federal gov't closed today. Unusual in that the southeast got more snow than the northwest. About 8" down in southern MD, while only about 5" here in DC. Still very cold for the rest of the week - today in the 20s but Thurs in the teens. Brrr...
