David, are you supposed to be shifting? I saw your post about Lake George in another thread. I hope this heals up well, soon enough for you to go.

How about feet?

I've gotten a handle on the RA but my feet are giving me pain, still. I went to a store called Foot Solutions, and they ordered orthotics for me, which I haven't recieved yet. I hope they help. A podiatrist told me I needed them a few months ago, for falling arches, but I didn't want to get them thinking that I would never use them. I changed my mind after months of pain, but this outfit seems to make more comfortable ones than the ones I had years ago.

Patty in Cali, you must often wear sandals? Some sandals can cause issues. I find sandals which are too flat are no good for the aging feet. They have to be comfy, and have some arch support as well as a little wedge to the heel. Flip flops don't work for me at all.

I generally wear sneakers whenever I have to walk any distance at all, or I have some non ugly shoes that are surprisingly comfortable if I'm walking around or shopping.

glad to hear all went well
Thanks for the good wishes It's only 24 hours since my little operation, but the post-op numbness is just about gone. Now I have a little discomfort, but am able to keyboard using both hands. I have not had enough problem to take the Percoset Rx, but am still using an ice pack (when I remember ) The only other post-op has been some itching....guess that comes whenever you have stitches.

Kathy has been 'nursing' me diligently and making sure that I follow the instructions....no heavy lifting for 10 days I'm pretty lucky....have had very few operations in my time....never been under a heavy anesthesia dose.

Dave/ Scooter- Sorry to hear about your hand problem.....sounds like a much longer recuperation than my little chopping block procedure

Patty, I am as flat-footed as a platypus. Podiatrists can be great....I wear a custom orthotic ($300) to correct for this and also keep the pressure off of a heel spur that popped up many years ago. An ortho guy suggested surgery but the pod guy fixed it up w/o the cutting routine

Didn't retire....am on sabbatical

Actually, all of the RN's yesterday were impressed that I have no allergies, no prior operations, normal blood pressure, good O2 reading, EKG of a 45 year old like Jonas. Only challenge is elevated cholesterol, which is under control via exercise and Simvustatin etc. Heck I've even lost ~10# in the past 2 months

I'll take wrist and heel problems.....rather than serious organ depletion/ dysfunction

It was called Home Improvement starring Tim Taylor the tool man.

for some reason Barbara always seemed to really get a kick out of that show, like she related to it somehow who knows...
