Default anyone know how to properly clean the calipers?

i have them painted yellow...so yes they get dirty QUICK!
today i tried cleaning them, sprayed some wheels cleaner on them washed them then dryed them off with a towel lots of brake dust came off but there r still some left inbetween the parts of the caliper , so anyone know how to clean them properly without brake dust leftovers?
also, i also noticed that my caliper had this dirt that was a mitalic brown kind of like rust exept its not rust i think its a kind of material they use in the brakes.... anyone know what that is?

are you using brushes?
if not, you will need some small and some cone brushes for the caliper cleaning...
