It depends . . . if there are defects I want to remove than I use an abrasive polish . . . if there are no defects then I just use a non-abrasive polish like Poorboy's Pro Polish, Clearkote Red Moose Glaze, or Zymol HD-Cleanse

Griots Garage makes a spray wax remover that is supposed to be decent at getting the oils off the paint before starting with a fresh system on the car.

depends on for what...
as mikeyc suggested a polish will do the job- so if you gotta do a swirl removal anyway, that will do it!
some clays will also do a good job of wax removal.
if you are just doing a small area, like for badge replacement, you can also use a light polish- or you can use alcohol, dawn or several other choices. dawn is a popular product, but not my fav.

If you're feeling adventurous and have a respirator handy w/VOC filters in it (not to mention heavy duty rubber gloves and a well ventilated area), 3M Adhesive Remover or Prepsol will DEFINITELY do the job.

Maybe next week, when I get back from Topeka, I can remember to look in the basement and see what the cleaner is that I bought at a body shop supply house. It is supposed to be a pre-paint cleaner that removes wax and oils.

Or you could stop by your local body shop supply house and ask what they recommend.

That pre paint cleaner could be something like acetone, dupont 3812, laquer thinner... If it's designed for before paint then you better be ready to paint it.

The best point was the one wannabe made... we dont yet know what the wax remover step preceeds?!? ... So best for what?

a layer of wax on the car won't interfere with the swirl removal process? I want to try Sonus Swirlbuster Polish, but I'm told it's not very abrasive, so will it cut through my 2 month old layer of NXT?

any polishing will remove the wax or sealant you have on there.

I personally have been using dawn for a long time, and the results have been great. I have been doing it for the life of my s2000, and can see no ill effects.
