Default Can I use the backing plate that the PC comes with

I had a question about whether I can use the backing plate that the PC comes with. I see some pads like Lake County i think that just goes over a backing plate. They sell their own backing plate but whats the difference? Is theirs flexible or something?

several versions of backing plates...
i learned on the stocker

now use the edges- look ma, no backing plate!! (its built in- and you can turn them over)

the stock plate is fine to learn with- then you can decide whether you like it or not.
i learned the feel of the machine on a beater car- polished it then waxed it... then did a car that i cared about!!

The extra money for the edge2k stuff is way worth it IMO. Easy on-off, always centered, double sided. Good stuff!

Have you guys had any problems with your Edge 2000 system with the plastic inner part of the pad deteriorating and becoming a loose fit? I actually experienced a pad coming off because of that, but from reading a lot of people reviews it seemed to be a rare instance.

I really liked the quality of the Edge pads and the smaller sized pads, but since then I've just stuck with Lake Country.

bobbo-
no such problems... i am guessing that this is just an isolated problem, and that they would be glad to give you a new one.

lake countrys are still in my arsenal- but as they wear out, dont think i will be replacing them cause i am hooked on the edge !
