Default Chipped windshield

I wish I had a picture but basically a big rig chucked a pieces of gravel (I wasn't close to the truck about 100-200 ft behind) and it chipped my windshield. Its a pretty small chip but it's deep. Anyone experienced this and what did you do about it? Thanks in advance.

A repair shop like Novus can fill the chip if you get it to them before it begins to "star". Get the car to them fast because driving and changes in temperature will cause cracking. Repairs are usually less than $100 and most insurers will reimburse you.

Most s2ks have tons of small chips that I've seen with no cracking lines just small chips.

I mean if theres no small lines coming from the crack or anythign than don't worry about it. the only time I ever got one filled was a small one which had one small line coming out of it which was made almost invisble after it got filled and fixed.

What do you mean by deep? that might be a diff situation. I don't think any of my chips are deep though....

If it doesn't look like a star or a crescent shaped crack, they are not going to be able to do much for you. If it's cracked, they'll be able to drill into it and press resin in there under pressure to seal it up. Your insurance company may have a glass program. I have USAA and they cover glass repairs 100%. I've used it twice in one year with the S. This car seems to attract rocks.

I got a chip in my windshield filled, but its starting to crack anyway At least I get a discount on a windshield replacement from what I paid for the repair.

I received a very bad chip in my windshield that I knew would require replacement. I had tried a number of different kits on other windshields which worked so-so. But since I could not stand looking at it, I tried yet another do-it-yourself kit called "Fix a Windshield" from Autozone. I was shocked ---- it worked GREAT. So good in fact I will not replace the windshield now. I would have taken pictures but truthfully I did not expect it to work

I too had a large chip that developed into three short cracks. I was surprised at how reasonable a replacement windshield was. Less than $350 installed on site at my house. 89 glass.com
