Claybar questions...
In my previous post I stated that I had a paint mark on my car from someone hitting me in a parking lot. The mark is from their paint on top of my clear coat, it didn't scratch through the paint. My question is, Do I have to be really careful when I use the clay bar? Can it damage the clear coat or paint? Thanks again guys.
I really dont see how but i guess anything is possible. The only thing you really have to be careful of is not to apply to much pressure on the clay when ur rubbing it on ur car. Reason being is the sediment is collected on the bar and if u apply too much pressure i suppose it's possible to scratch ur clear coat.
Three things to remember about using clay bar to avoid any possibility of scratching your car.
1. Use A LOT of lube.
2. "Fold" the clay often.
3. Replace the claybar when you can feel any abrasive on the surface of the clay after folding.
Thanks,
Richard

And the Lube you see that they sell with the clay bar... is detailing spray. Save yourself the cash and just use water... soapy water if your removing bugs and tar. You would have to do something just crazy to damage your paint with a clay bar.
