Default Corroded Brake Dust

I've been searching and trying to find out the best way to clean off the corrosion of brake dust on the stock ap1 wheels. I bought the car used about a month ago and have washed it and cleaned the wheels as best I can but can't seem to get the corrosion off. I used to detail at a dealership but since I don't work there I can't exactly go back and use their products, so what I'm asking is what have you guys used and what products work the best. I'm tempted to use steel wool but I don't want to scratch up the wheels. Thanks for any and all input. If I missed a thread that someone already posted about this on here just reply with the link....

..corrosion? If you're just talking about grime built up inside/on your rim just use a strong degreaser and a rim safe scrub brush, I use a stiff bristle brush on mine

Here's a thread where our forum sponsor, who details professionally in addition to selling supplies, talks about his "new favorite" wheel cleaner. Based on reputation, you could not go wrong with his "old favorite" either.

don't use steel wool as the rims are clear coated

mikeyC taught me about this stuff - careful as it's strong you can get a gallon of the stuff for $20.00 and it will last a lifetime

I would only use wheel brightener once a year, and it is acid. I think I know exactly what you are talking about, and Meg's Wheel brightener is cheap and works cheap and fast on it.

To get inside the spokes I would try like a $2 brush from wal-mart I found. I used a toothbrush on those and it was slow as hell, small, and didn't work very well.
