Dust, leaves, small foreign objects getting caught under the softtop when top is top

When I went out to the car (the top was up), along the rear portion (where the softtop meets the trunk) of the softtop, I noticed that dust, leaves, etc. can get caught underneath the top. Do things that get caught under the top just stay there forever and can't be taken out? Btw, I have an 03 if that is of any consequence. Thanks.

If it's big stuff you can see, PULL IT OUT!
If it's small stuff you can't see, it'll just follow the water when you wash it or when it rains. What? You thought the water just sits in there and pools till it evaporates?
