Default Fighting Rust

If you detect a small amount of rust on the rear fender panel (just above the wheel where the fender meets the bumper cover) are there any steps that you can take to prevent it from spreading?

Are there any inexpensive options? (other than replacing the fender).

Any suggestions?

you want to remove the rust and protect the area. this might mean paint, but i would like to see what you are dealing with if possible...

Honda has a lifetime warranty against rust?? If I knew that I might be tempted to drive my 00 in the winter.

I should have mentioned earlier, but I was afraid interest in responding to my question would suffer, that the rust is on my girlfriend's 1995 Toyota Corolla. Its her first car and she is scared that it will be demolished by rust. I told her she would have to sand down the entire area and have it repainted, however I was wondering if there was something that could be applied to it to stop the spread.

I had a rust problem on a CRX once. I was told that to stop rust, the entire portion of metal effected by rust, and then some, needs to be removed (ie cut out) and then replaced and painted. The body shop guy told me rust is sililar to cancer, you must remove every trace of it, or it will infect the metal around it. If you have a small area effected by surface rust, I would have it looked at by a pro ASAP to stop it from getting out of hand.

I always thought that you had to cut it out completely, however I was hoping that there would be a cheaper option. Not sure if spending $1000 on body work for a 95 Corolla is wise.

So just to clear this up??! Does honda have a lifetime warranty on rust? This would be great if it is true. And if this lifetime warranty does apply, is it only for certain model, make, and year vehicles?

I was just wondering because I have a 93 honda prelude with some rust but I would also like to know for future reference with my S. THANKS
