Fixing a Scratched Headlight
Hey All,
My driver's side headlight has some pretty deep scratches and they've been bugging the heck out of me. They're deep enough where a simple polish wouldn't fix them. Since a new headlight unit is $400 - $500, is there any other way to fix this besides just replacing the light? Some on s2000 talk suggested using a fine grit sandpaper, but that sounds potentially harmful. If I remember correctly, our lights have some sort of UV protectant on them...sanding would remove this and eventually cause the plastic to yellow, right? Anyhow, I'm open to any suggestions or opinions. Thanks guys.

The only way your going to get rid of deep scratches is to sand them off. But as you stated the UV protectent will be removed... however... you can either get new headlights or sand them properly and then make sure you wax your headlights
If this was your dream car I would say get a new headlight and get it over with, but if its mostly your daily driver, I'd say sand them and if you start to have a problem then replace it.
