Thumbs up Help!

Ok. Well I need some help. My front windshield is driving me nutts. It looks like little sparkles all over the glas and I can't get rid of it.
Does anyone know of something I can do to fix this besides replacing the windshield?

look on autogeek.net for a glass polishing kit. hopefully someone will chime in later with other possible solutions, but this might be your best bet. good luck and keep us updated.

I'm hoping someone has a suggestion, as I've got the same problem. I think we all do. Maybe you could take the car to a glass place, or a place that does good window tinting, and see if they have any tricks they can offer?

I've actually half considered borrowing a BB gun or something and, um, "helping" my windshield towards the path to replacement. When I had to replace the windshield on my other cars, the difference was shocking. It really made a huge difference in ability to see out of the car.

Maybe that Einszett windshield polish is worth a go? I haven't tried it but it's cheap and can't hurt.

If those sparkles are little pits like mine there's nothing you can do. Our glass is soft.

as ubetit mentioned it is likely that you wont get it back to new, especially if what you are seeing is pits.

i would use the pc and a glass polish to see if maybe some of what you are seing might be contamination. sometimes steel wool is needed first (the really fine kind- 0000).

more steel wool info:

the total wacko process:

1. photograph the windshield from several angles. then wash the glass with a good glass cleaner and a clean mf. be sure to wash inside too so that when you inspect you will not be seeing inside dirt.

2. inspect, then steel wool - be careful at the edges not to hit any trim

3. wash again and inspect

4. glass polish (zaino makes one, for example) might still add some benefit- worth trying - use the pc and keep the speed down at first

5. wash and buff really well with clean mfs

6. photograph again - and post up the pics on this board!!
