Hi All,

Berlina Black,,, came out to the car and a bird bullseyed the hood. In my haste to quickly remove the dropping from the car I pulled a paper towel out of the trunk and wet it down with some windex that I had and began to wipe off the dropping. It was pretty dark out & i didn't realize that I was scrathing the car as I wiped off the bird crap.

My car is about 2 months old (in my hands) - I've done a z2/zfx & z5 - once I've had other issues with getting Zaino done right... I think I need to be more patient with it after applying...

I had some polishing compound in the garage and applied it to the spot - immediately learned that doing that may have been a mistake - it seemed to do more harm - adding scratches to the clear coat - than good... - and then re treated the area with z2/zfx & then z5 it's much better but not as good as i think it could be...

Is this a pretty standard treatment at this point? If yes what is that treatment?

After doing a search & reading a bit more about scratch treatment....I've ordered some 3M Swirl remover ...

Any additional specific instructions / steps to take will be most appreciated.

Thanks
Nate

yup, you might have just learned that birds sometimes eat sand!!
next step for you is to determine whether you really have more scratches or just polish haze from your compounding-
if they are light scratches, a swirl remover will probably get them. if haze, a paint cleaner might do the trick...
can you post up pics?
since compounding is usually followed by a swirl removal, my guess (without pics) is that will do the trick for you-

this is the paint cleaner that i am using right now:

another good one:

also make sure that you are polishing correctly, cause you can cause swirls with a polish or swirl remover if you do it wrong!!:
