Default How do I remove decals?

Everyone, I picked up my S2000 a month ago and I am just now starting to want to tinker with things. One thing that annoys me is that I have a "BROWN" (as in the name of the dealership) sticker on the back of the car. I would like to remove this decal. Does anyone know a good way to remove these without screwing up the paint?

Thanks,
Nix

Finger nail. That's what I used to remove mine. Came off in one piece and just waxed the area afterwards.

It may come off faster if you heat it up with a hair dryer first and soften the glue.

If it's really stuck, heat it with a blow dryer then run a fishing line behind it to cut through the adhesive. After that use some "Goof Off" to remove the sticky stuff. (Available @ Home Depot)

Don't use Goof off on the Urethane bumpers, though. I discolored my front fascia with that stuff loosening up by H badge. It didn't do anything to the sides where I took off the S2000 badge... Hair dryer and waxing is best.

3M makes a paint-safe adhesive remover that you can get in auto stores here in California (I got it at Kragen's, I think it's just called 3M Adhesive Remover or something simple like that). I used this and waxed dental floss to remove the H badges. Works great!

Rick, who sells his own badges, uses a fancier adhesive remover, but I can't recall what it is. Check out some of his threads on badges if you want in the main forum, but I think the 3M stuff should do the trick. I think if you go onto the HandA site (a sponsor of this site) and go to the place where they sell replacement Honda bades, you look at on-line instructions Honda recommends for removing stock badges also.

WD-40 will take the glue off without harming the finish.
