How do i remove silicone from bumper?

Default How do i remove silicone from bumper?

I trashed my amuse lip and removed it. Now I got a line of silicone accross the front... How do I remove it?

wondering if ivory soap would work...
its pretty harsh and gets filmed silicones- but not sure about built up silicones.

Wow, that is a tough one...my guess would be maybe heat it up a little with a blowdryer and then spray some wd-40 on it to maybe break it up a little.

sounds like you have a silicone type glue- can you peel it with your fingernails without damaging the paint (test a small area)?
you might try soaking one end with alcohol for a few minutes then see if it will peal off without damaging the paint. if that does not work, i would try gasoline or wd-40 on the other end next.
i also understand that some citrus cleaners, such as goo gone, might work.

and here is a 3m silicone remover that also might work- ask a local boat store what they think of it for your job:

are you positive that its silicone? (lots of similar looking products- all hard to remove when cured)

If I recall correctly, alcohol will help loosen it up.

Thanks for the advice. I will try the alcohol first then wd40. The main problem is the silicone is hard to get a hold of or pick at with my fingernail. I did pull a little off and the paint is perfect under it I just dont want to spend 900 hours picking a speck at a time until my fingers bleed.
