I wouldn't recommend drying your towels outdoors. You don't know what's happening to the towels while they're outside on your clothes line. The wind is not your friend and will blow particles on your towels which will scratch your paint.

Daym Tyson What do you dry your car with

Sandpaper

Also if you detail your car when windy... you will pick up more micro grit just trying to dry it

something is scratching your paint

maybe send a photo and drtail description of you set up to Mike at Maguiars

maybe where you detail you car? to dry the car off - do you speed around the block?
then pick up a towel off the ground and dry it off?
maybe a dirty bucket?
maybe a cheap wash mit from walmart
maybe the car was repainted with a not so hard paint?
maybe... maybe... maybe...

maybe this will help?

very good reading here:

http://properautocare.com/usporcabpol.html

and its a lot easier to do than it sounds!!
i suggest that you read the above, then post up in your local forum that you will supply products and refreshments if a member who knows how to polish will supply the machine and know how... win/win and great way to meet fellow owners!

bill. like i said, i live in a rather dusty area. i consider socal in general very dusty. it only takes 12 hours after any wash and detail to make the car look like crap again. (oh the curse of berlina ).

however, this past sunday morning was extremely dusty. it was caked in dust as i parked it next to my neighbors lawn and i believe they must have cut their lawn or something. it was covered in a good layer of dirt.

i had to leave in the morning, but i was not going to drive it like that. so i did use the california duster. havent given up hope on it yet. see this thread. https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showt...26487&hl=duster

when i got back home, i gave it a good wash.

i use meguairs gold glass with a gold class mitt. with only one bucket, no grit guard. i rinsed off the car as good as i could. but who knows, maybe there was enough debris still around. the corner of my driveway i wash my car in also picks up a lot of dirt in the air anyway, but i dont think it was particularly windy sunday either.

drying i use a big blue MF towel i got from autopia. it had been used from a previous wash. it wasnt a freshly laundered one. so maybe that contributed as well.

i was pressed for time before the planet acura toys for tots meet. i was only able to polish and wax the new hardtop i got. by that time the sun was just about to set anyway. kenji came and we headed out.

yes, i was shocked along with you at the swirls we saw on my hood and car. it was only weeks ago that kenji and i detailed the hood and trunk. kenji did the hood with his rotary, i did the trunk with the PC. you can see the results of the past detail day here. https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showt...438696&hl=kenji

anyway, i needed to polish the hood again with the pc to get some holograms out. so itll happen soon enough.

but obviously something is accelerating the swirls on my car. its likely its in the wash and drying.

so bottom line. i need to pay more attention to the wash prcoess.
