Default Meguiars NXT Tech Wax

I waxed my car using the Meguiars NXT Tech Wax today. The car hasn't been waxed in over 2 years so I decided to try out the NXT wax. I really did not notice that much of a difference in my paint when I was finished. The paint felt a lot smoother to the touch. That is about the only thing I noticed. The cars paint was almost perfect before the wax though.

Has anyone else used this wax? Notice a big difference before and after?

depends on the color of your car... i am guessing that you nxted a light colored car?
nxt shows better on darker colors.
our board concluded that it is easy to use, nice shine, but doesnt last as long as others-

i wonder how you kept the paint in good shape without waxing for two years?? must have lived under a car cover? i am glad that you have protected it now-
and just as important for a convertible is the interior- be sure to use a product with sunscreens in it!

The car is in a garage almost 24/7. That is the only reason the paint looks the way it does.

I have been using Meguiars quick interior detailer after I hand wash it with Meguiars Gold Class soap. After washing I have been using Meguiars quick detailer. The car has not seen an automatic car wash since I have owned it. A hardtop is normally on the car so I am not worried about the interior fading in any way. I also put up a sunshade that I got from the dealership whenever the car is parked outside (fits perfectly).

LOL, I sound like a Meguiars sales person.

I should be set after the waxing. Just not 100% happy with the NXT product. I just don't see that much of a difference.

Not much difference because the paint could be oxidized with contaminants.. there would probably be a significant difference if you used a machine polisher , some compound work and then apply NXT as a final coat. IMO, its slight cleaning properties are good, but can't do wonders as a pre selant or compound, as its an LSP. On the other side of the coin, i can only think there's no clearcoat ?

Here's a customer of mine, with just One coat of NXT applied, very quicky with a wipe on wipe off method..

I have been using NXT paste wax and am very happy with it on my Berlina.

I tried it. And I won't use it on my car or any of my clients cars either... stuff lasts about 10 minutes.

Get yourself some better quality products... Most Meguiars products(not the pro stuff) are very much designed for the regular off the shelf consumer products.

I use Optimum, 3M, Wolfgang, Pinnacle Souver

I think the problem is not necessarily the products your using. I've read about many people who use NXT wax and are very happy with it. So, it can't be that bad. I think the issue is that you're expecting too much.

A wax will not improve the look of your paint. Most of the shine comes from the paint surface itself. The wax is mainly there to protect the paint. If your car has not been waxed in two years then it probably has oxidation, embedded contaminants, and likely some swirling. NXT wax has some cleaners in it, but definitely not enough to make a large impact in the appearance of a car that has not been waxed in two years. The only way you'll see a significant improvement in the look of your car is to polish the paint and to clay it.

To emphasize my point check out this thread which describes a detail I did on my mother's car. The car is always garaged, but is a daily driver. It's about 4-5 years old. Your car was probably washed more regularly, but that won't make any difference when you're dealing with oxidation or embedded contaminants. Washing will only remove loose dirt. The car was not often waxed as your car is not often waxed.

Nice Job on the Audi Mike. Looks good.

I agree with you on that point that he really needs to clean the paint on that car better. You can take the cheapest wax and apply it to just about any surface and its going to "feel" better than before you applied it but its not actually going to be better... if that makes any sense.

But NXT doesn't last even if you do all the proper steps. That stuff is just not up to the job.
