Default Menzerna Question about SIP

Hey guys I am in the process of my first detail on my new MY05 Rio Yellow S. I have detailed many cars but I am using Menzerna products for the first time (I have always used only zaino products in the past). I have almost completed one pass of SIP on country lake orange pad with the porter cable. My question is do I have to follow that up with a pass of PO85RD on white/black pad or can I go right to my zaino process (Z-5, Z-2, etc) from the SIP?? Also do I need to do a alcohol wipe down or regular full wash following the Menzerna polish??? Thanks for the help guys!!! I will post pics when I get done.

Use an alcohol wipe down after each pass to remove any oils left by the polish. This way you can tell if you actually removed the swirls or if you are just covering them up.

If you inspect your paint under the sun or halogens or a brinkmann and it looks fine to you, then following up with po85rd is not necessary. You may find that finishing with po85rd and a black pad "finesses" the finish and gives you more gloss and clarity. Try a section on your hood and do a 50/50 comparison on whether or not finishing with po85rd makes a difference to you.

You can do a full wash after the menzerna but it's not necessary. Many people do this due to the dusting.

not sure that i understand your "one pass"-
it takes a lot more than one pass!!
work a 2'x2' area- sideways slowly, then diagonal and finish as the wind blows over the car... a lot more than one pass.

then to tekstar's tips---

that is what I meant..one pass being working the polish for several minutes in different directions but i only did it one time on each section....paint wasn't that bad at all....just enough that i needed to step up to the SIP over the po85rd. Sorry for being unclear.

what type of alcohol and does it need to be diluted?...if so what strength?? does the alcohol just get sprayed on the paint and wiped off like a detailing spray?? How liberally???

Thanks guys

I would definitely follow up with PO85RD to remove the compounding haze/holograms left behind by the SIP. Honda clearcoat is extremely soft, so it pretty much requires a pass of finishing polish after compounding

Here is the link for the alcohol wipedown thread.

Read a few posts down, and it will tell you how to make it.

Not sure if you really need to do this after using Menzerna polishes. I thought they had no fillers.
