Default Mezerna Polishes

Can someone try to explain to me the differences between the different Mezerna polishes? I see a Super intensive polish, an intensive polish, nano polish...etc

Am I supposed to use a combination of these? like the PO85 with the SIP?

Do these products replace Klasse AIO and SG? or do they only replace the AIO?

Lastly, am I supposed to finish off with a layer of wax on top of the polishes?

Thanks,
Jonathan

Generally, yes. For cars that only have light swirling/marring you can sometimes get away with a single less aggressive polish (like PO85). In general though, you want to start with a more aggressive polish like SIP, then make another pass with PO85 to "jewel" the finish of the paint and add that final touch. Remember, you only want to polish the surface to the paint to remove defects. A by product of removing paint defects is that the polish will also strip away any protection that was previously on the paint. The goal is to polish away imperfections by removing a very thin layer of clear coat.

Do these products replace Klasse AIO and SG? or do they only replace the AIO?
No Menzerna polish replaces the Klasse twins (or any other wax/sealant). AIO is a chemically abrasive polish, it hardly removes anything from the paint. Menzerna polishes actually have tiny granules of abrasives that remove thin layers of clear coat. The Klasse twins are designed to be layered and add protection, Menzerna polishes are designed to remove imperfections and perfect the paint's finish so that it can later be topped with some form of protection, such as a wax or sealant.

Lastly, am I supposed to finish off with a layer of wax on top of the polishes?
In a word, YES. However, if you are putting wax ON TOP of the polish then you aren't using the polishes correctly! A polish breaks down during use, it is not designed to be layered on paint. In fact, a good polish will leave NOTHING behind when wiped away, just a fresh paint surface that will then need protection.

Last but not least, if you don't have the Klasse twins yet then don't buy them! Use Jeff's Werkstatt products instead, they're based on the same formulation that Klasse uses but they're easier to apply/remove from the paint. The Werkstatt lineup is usually cheaper than the Klasse twins as well, so it's a win/win.

Too bad I already have the Klasse Twins =(

I think I get it now. So depending on my paints condition, I can do the SIP then follow with the PO85. Once I have that finished, my paint should be clean with no more polish on it. At this point, I need to protect the paint, so I can add a sealant and then a layer of wax?

For the sealant, can I use the Klasse Sealant Glaze? or are there other sealants that I should be using?

You can use Klasse SG. You've also got it right about using a Sealant first, then if desired you can use a wax last. I don't know of any sealants that will bond to a wax, that's why they need to be used first if you also plan to wax your car.

Just for the record, there's nothing wrong with the Klasse twins, they're great products and usually deliver good results. I was simply saying that, based on the wide variety of products available, Klasse wouldn't be my first pick for a sealant. That being said, it is very durable and I also like how it looks (although that's just down to personal preference).

Don't attempt to polish without some sort of machine, in your case I'd probably use a Porter Cable. Also, what kind of pads will you be using?

Finally, stickied at the top of these forums are some wash/wax howtos. Read those over and watch some videos about how to polish your car. I think that will give you an idea of how to apply a polish and work it until it is ready to be removed from the paint.

I still need to invest in a porter cable. Doing my research now. What pads do you suggest? Edge? Lake Country?

Well, I guess to an extent, Klasse AIO and Mezerna serve somewhat different purposes. I need to remove some swirls, so I think that the Mezerna is where I need to go.

ANy recommendations on sealants?

I use Edge 2k pads with my PC. That's all I've used so I can't comment on other pads. I will say I've been extremely pleased with the Edge pads, they work great for me.

What sealant do you recommend
Well, I would recommend a product that's easy to apply and therefore can be used as often as you want. The goal of a sealant is to add long lasting protection AND increase the visual appeal of your vehicle. Some people like the look of sealants, some people don't. I personally was blown away by the ease of use of the Werkstatt sealants, they would be my recommendation for anyone looking for a sealant for their car. Werkstatt also has a line of carnauba products as well if you decide to forgo the synthetic route although I haven't used them....yet.

You are right, Klasse AIO and Menzerna polishes are two different animals. Klasse AIO leaves behind some protection and, as far as polishes are concerned, is very weak. Menzerna polishes don't leave any protection behind and are designed to be used exclusively as a polish only product, they intend for you to apply something else to the paint after polishing with them. They don't fulfill the "all in one" role.
