I think most cars have op.... I wonder why.

What causes OP? Anyone know? Is it just un-even spraying? or does it have something to do with the actual paint? Because someone said earlier in this post, that factory panels are dipped, which means they should be smooth.
I guess you could say it's really the paint drying too fast that causes OP. When it's still wet the paint needs time to level to create a flat surface. If it is forced to dry quickly then it does not get the time it needs to flatten out resulting in the wavy texture known as OP.

When the paint is sprayed on, the way it's sprayed can impact whether there is OP or not because if it's sprayed on heavier in one spot that area will need longer to level.

Thanks for all the replies!

-All the body parts have the original VIN on them except the driver side door.
-The driver side door has a sticker very similar to the VIN sticker on it but says EHOT with a Honda badge instead of the VIN #.
-The front fender is original but has been removed (bolts are scratched showing that it was removed)

Would there be any way to get new parts for a car, if they needed to be replaced, and get the VIN number on them?

Only the dealers but it's so hard for them they usually don't do it and it would only be for their new cars not a repair for a customer.

At least that's what I was told.

The vin tags are put on after the car is painted. If you have paint on yours it's because it was repainted at some point.

I moved away from Mazda sales last month and went back to my parts dept job at a local Toyota dealer. Our biggest accounts are body shops, and I can say with great certainty that if a panel has been replaced and new stickers ordered, they WILL NOT have the original VIN number anywhere on them.

We don't order panels by VIN, and we don't order stickers by VIN either. (We do decode the VIN to identify the correct parts though, but none are "custom" for that particular number).
