!Paint Chip!
At a Honda dealer. On your way home, go to a hobby shop and buy the smallest paint brush you can find. The brush inside the bottom is way too big. When I fixed my door ding, I used the 3M blue painter's tape to tape off around the chip so that I painted the smallest possible area...basically just filled in the chip. It's also a good idea to clean the chip with some alcohol and dry it thoroughly before you put on the paint. Try to let it dry overnight...it was still tacky on me after 4 or so hours with temps in the 70s.
Good luck with it.
Good luck with it.
i like the paint pens too, but for chips i think that they might not be as good as the paint...

For those who have PCs and are a bit more daring, you can get 3M's wetsanding block... made especially for wetsanding auto paint....
if you sand down the uneven paint when its dried, and PC it, you wont be able to notice the chips at all
I did it on a friend's Z3... it was scary, but well worth it

1. what grit of sandpaper is 3M's wetsanding block comparable to? 1500? 2000? I'm just curious how fine this thing is.
2. what kind of polish did you use to remove the wetsanding marks? I've read that menzerna intensive polish can be used, but wondered what you used specifically?
Thanks.
I have a similar situation...
My stook was hit with a major rock storm when I came upon an oversized load on the freeway. My left fender, on top, took two big scratches all the way down to the metal. I applied the Honda pen but after the paint dried, I had two big bumps. I then sanded it down with a wet/dry paper (wet) ... very lightly and now I believe that I have hosed the clear coat. I know for certain that I didn't get down to the paint, but I can't get the area glossy to blend.
HELP.
Does anyone know of a clear coat repair kit or method?
I am not an idiot, but damn, I sure feel like one right now. I took a gamble and it didn't turn out like I expected. Is it okay for a man to cry?
If I can't do this myself, does anyone have any idea how much a pro shop would charge to fix my clear coat?
Sincerely,
CB
