PC Technique
Hi, my good buddy Mike
over on Meguiresonline.com has a point of view that I am curious about.

Once in a while people come to MOL asking questions about using foam cutting pads on the dual action polisher, (G100/PC). Here at Meguiar's our current policy is to not recommend, nor sell people cutting pads to use to apply products with the dual action polisher because while they may remove scratches, they tend to scour and haze the paint and most people don't have the skill or expertise to recover from this when it happens.

Mike claims that the upper right corner of the hood was polished with a Lake Country Orange cutting pad, whereas the lower portion of the hood was buffed using a Meguires W-8006 polishing pad .
I asked a simple question over on the Meguires board, and I got chastised. Mike pretty much singled me out because I have been a member there for 2 days
Apparently, I'm not one of his, I will use the word "Stellar" members over there.
So, my question to those that are familiar with a PC, what kind of pads do you use for removing swirls, and light scratches?
To be honest with you, I have had success with both an orange, and a yellow cutting pad using XMT #3. I just got some of the XMT #4, but have not used it yet, as my car is currently flawless and doesn't need it.
My car looks like the bottom part of the pic, using a Lake Country Yellow cutting pad, and XMT #3.
Thoughts and opinions welcome.
In the thread that I asked a question in, this was Mikes answer (after several members, including Mike chastised me)

[QUOTE=Mike Phillips]I noticed your Emoticons are coming from the s2ki.com forums, Example:
I have no idea what hes talking about but I use orange pads regularly for all my detailing jobs on my UDM and have never come across any of the results that he has gotten. I normally use orange, white, blue and grey pads for a typical detail depending on the paint condition. But I have had nothing but success with the orange pad on speed 5-6.
yeah I find most boards terrible...the reason I joined s2ki is for this forum. I find most other forums on here(s2ki) very click-ish....which I find really sad. Sorry I don't have any advice for your topic....just replying to say hello and bump your question up. cheers man.
guessing that he is referring only to the da, although i see that he has the pc in there too. the da spins wider, so might make sense for that machine.
do not understand the pc being in there though...
this board is known for being a friendly place to be- please keep this in mind with this thread (thanks in advance from all wackos here!)

The post from Meguiar's online is indeed curious. When I used my own PC for the first time, I used an orange Lake County pad and Menzerna IP on a dark blue Toyota. Not only did I not experience any hazing or any problems at all, it worked *so* well that I found I didn't need to go back afterwards with the Final Polish. The car looked absolutely money with just that one polishing step.
Possible that this guy is talking specifically of using the combination of cutting pads with *Meguiar's* polishes, and maybe that particular polish in question is on the harsh side as compared to something like Menzerna?
Just speculating here. Personally I've not had, nor do I anticipate, any problems doing this.
