Default Polishing?

Any of the veterans know of products and process used for getting rid of swirls?

My car doesnt have it bad at all with the swirls, but it's bad enough that Z5 doesnt get it out, and yet not so bad that everyone in the world see's it. I really dont want to mess up the proccess so any advice you can give - even in depth walkthrough would be much appreciated!

Do you own a PC 7424? If not get a polish like 1Z Paint polish,Meguiars Scratch X,. It's very easy to use by hand. Or if you have a PC I LOVE menzerna Intense polish then I finish up with Final Polish2. I use an orange and white pad respectively.
Watch your washing technique as thats how most swirls are made. What do you use for drying? Washing?

I have a black accord that had a number of swirls and scratches. Here was my routine:

1) Clay
2) Mequiars No 82 DCAP (yellow Pad)
3) Meguiars No 9 Swirl remover (white pad)
4) Vanilla Moose (White pad)
5) Poorboy's EX-P (Grey Pad)

This car was not in good shape and required the full treatment. If you are dealing with just swirls you can start at step 3.

The mezurna products also very good. For swirls just use FP. If you re dealing with something more than swirlss use IP followed by FP

I wouldn't use the one for dark cars but the other version does. You can also try DACP from Meguiars.

I used Meguiars 2.0 on my Black Accords hood and it worked great at getting the swirls out. I only wish I had gone 1 step more aggressive like 3.0.

I only used Meguiars because it was readily available. No reason other than that.

Hi Guys,
I have been a keen detailer for a few years now and the SWIRL MARK question is always the big one to answer. Swirls usually appear due to owner washing methods. Its important that a good washing technique is used otherwise the swirls will come back again and again. Firstly use a decent car wash like Meguiers Gold class or better and a lambswool washmit. Wet the car thoroughly and wash the flat surfaces first ie hood and trunk first in the direction of the wind instead of a circular motion then move to the door starting from the top leaving the lower bits till last. Make sure that that no small particles are left on the mit once it goes back on the car as that what causes the swirls. The dry it with a big blue towel or another MF product.
To get wrid of the swirls requires a product that actually removes them rather than fill them. You could spend hours using the swirl remover like Megs No 9 and then find that a week later after its rained that the swirls are back. I have found that the Porter Cable DC polisher does the best job along with a yellow foam pad to remove swirls. The best product i have used to date is Menzerna Intensive polish. That will REMOVE the majority of the deeper swirls leaving a haze of spiderweb swilrs. The move to a white polishing pad and use Menzerna Final polish. This will remove minor swirls and leave a nice deep gloss. The finish is thgen ready for a sealant like Zaino or my favourite Klasse which leaves a film of accrylic. The top that with a good quality of Carnauba wax like P21 orrr if you really wanna splash out and get the best try Pinnacle Souveran.

Good luck.

Gerry
