Ok I will be making my purchase soon but I have a couple more questions first.. Can I use NXT with a PC? What makes the Porter Cable better than the $50 Walmart buffers?

I've had the Walmart Buffers before and while they will do the trick, they are often of low quality. The P-C will hold up a lot longer. Also, make sure that the Walmart buffer is a random orbital type. If you get the kind that just spins on one axis like a drill, instead of a random axis you will likely swirl your paint unless you are very careful or very lucky. Finally, I had a big Sears buffer - it did a good job, but eventually it became very hard to find pads for it. At the moment everyone seems to sell pads for the P-C so that may be another good reason to go with the P-C.

I haven't seen any foam cutting/polishing pads for the 9" machines they sell in autoparts and Walmart stores. So that leaves you to use terry bonnets. You won't be able to do swirl mark/scratch removal with those machines.

They also don't have the power required to do anything more than lay wax down.

The Griots comes with the 6" backing plate but no pads. You are paying a premium for 2 things the case it comes in and Griot's name. My wife doesn't have a problem with me buying tools but her one requirement is that they have a case so they can be stashed easily so I got the one form Griot's. I looked but couldn't find the molded case for for less than $40 so I said what the hell and gor it from them. Griot's claims that the screws in their backing plate are different but I doubt it. Richard Griot is a nice guy from the conversations I have had with him (almost bought a car from him) but he is also a heck of a salesman and knows how to market stuff. I like and use Griot's pads, Speed Shine, wheel cleaner, under carriage spray and clay bars.

Basss what's with all of the edits?
