Default QD'ing Pollen

This is probably a really dumb question but: Is it safe to QD a car with pollen on it? You know, the inevitable layer of debris that appears on a car after a day in the sun? I've always been afraid to touch the car, even with QD, once it gets a visible layer of pollen on it. I'm afraid it will cause swirl marks. Normally, I would just wait until the next Saturday, when I do my weekly wash. However, it's supposed to thunderstorm tomorrow and I want to cover my car. I certainly can't cover it with the pollen on the car, so I would need to QD it first with my Speed Shine and Cobra towel. I just wanna know if it's safe to do so. I mean, that is what the stuff was technically made for...but still. Please let me know.

*EDIT* After consulting the MikeyC guide, it appears that it is o.k. to QD a dusty car. I suppose it's no different than removing polish or wax residue. As an added precaution, however, I'll dampen my towel to soften up the debris on contact. It's just that at certain angles, when it catches the light, the particles look more like sand than pollen. Sand is bad.

if any sand at all, forget it... sand requires a very careful removal to keep from turning your rag into sandpaper!

if no sand, then first lightly dust off the car with a calif duster- then detail spray small sections at a time. if the stuff does not come off easily with detail spray, then you need something stronger- clay or bug/ tar remover are a coupla choices.
