Well, unfortunately, I'm in the same situation as this guy. I just got the car a month ago, and it's in fabulous condition. Except for the cloudy, cloudy window!

So, pardon my newbness and all, but the few threads I've seen suggested that the window could only be replaced by replacing the whole top. Myth? Or the window can be replaced, just at great effort?

If anyone as any experience with swapping the vinyl rear window for another vinyl window (as I like the larger size), please give us some info.

The plastic windows can be polished and brought back to like-new condition, I've heard. I'm thinking of giving it a try with mine, though I'm thinking of going to the junkyard and practicing on an old cloudy piece of plastic window on any old convertable first. To do the polish job you basically need an orbital or random orbital polisher, and the right chemicals.

If anyone has succesfully completed such a procedure, a write-up on the process would be great...

Did you try hot water? When I say hot I mean hot near boiling. I had to resort to using the wifes tea kettle on the Porsche. I figured it probably wasn't too good for the glue but what the hell and it did work.

I would take it off to try and get the crease out even if it was only parking it in the sun.

Hello I have an 01 and my cure for the crease is cheap. I purchased a pool noodle and covered it with 3 yards of felt from Walmart. It is working wonderful. I will post the product I use later for the plastic. It is Meguirs, same product that is used on aircraft windows.

The product that I use on my rear plastic window is
Meguiar's #17 Cleaner & #10 Polish. Highly recommend this product. If it is good enough to use on the windows of commercial and private jets, it is good enough for me.

$8.95 Meguiar's #10 Polish

$8.95 Meguiar's #17 & #10 (both products)

$14.95

Meguiar's Plastic Care Kit

$19.95

If you were to take it to a dealer with such a complaint, they would go boil a tea kettle full of water (yup, BOIL!) and pour it over the plastic window starting at the top edge and let the water flow down the window. (Don't pour it on the paint.) Most of the time, this works. However, unless you plan on using one of those "pool noodles" ALL THE TIME, the crease will come back. It's a folding plastic window after all.
