I use diluted simple green and a soft brush on my soft top every other wash and it comes out looking like new every time.
I learned this trick when my roommates mom brought her S over for us to wash and wax for her. It was an 00 and it was obvious looking at it. After we hit it with some SG and a brush, it looked almost as new as my 03. Except for the frosted plastic window.
