top cleaning... vinylex
i remember a thread here that had a link to somewhere that suggested that the top should be cleaned with vinylex...
so today i decided to give it a try. my top has not been up for the past year, so its just like new.
i could not get the vinylex to rub on consistently. it either puddled or was too thin. i was using a cotton cloth to apply.
any suggestions for applying vinylex to our tops? what to use and how to get it to apply consistently?

I mask off the rear window and spray it on all over. Then simply rub the excess off with a towel. The result is excellent, with improved beading and shine. Course the top is hardly ever up, so it doesn't get much sun, but every little bit helps.

i assume you do this after washing the rest of the car? if so, dont you have to mask off the rest of the car to keep it off of the paint?
thanks for your help, i will be trying this the next time i wash the car-
Cut out a small square piece of sponge ( cellulose sponge would work best) . Then use that as a small applicator. Its the best way of getting a deep enriched and even coating.
The sponge absorbs any excess and spreads across the roof evenly.
In the Uk, I use a porduct called Autoglym Bumper Care. Its mainly used for front and rear car bumpers, but works great on vinyl roofs too.

Mike,
I actually don't use Vinylex on the top. I use Meguiar's #40 and itgoes on pretty evenly. I usually spray it onto the cotton towel and then apply it.
