Topcoating over synthetics
I've read that some of you folks like to topcoat your synthetic polishes with P21S or some other type of wax for more depth on dark colored cars. How well would this work on lighter finishes like Silverstone? Also, what do you folks do if you decide that you want addition layers of synthetic after topcoating with a wax - do you have to strip everything off and start all over again, or can synthetics and waxes be sandwiched?
I'm currently using Liquid Glass, and I've been very happy with it so far, but I would like to get more depth.

i've topped my Klasse with S100 and now Meg #16 (for the winter)-
I've noticed a little more dept on my GPW (but not too much)
Wanabe and I will disagree on this
BUT i think any carnuba should be removed before adding any additional synthetics -
my thoughts are because Zaino and others tell you to do a full Dawn wash to strip the carnuba before adding Zaino -
a coat of carnube will only help in prolonging the life of the synthetic

(i began with finish first and a spray carnuba and now use zaino and p21s)
absolutely has benefits on your car- reduced dust for one.
and when i want to add layers i add layers. thats it!
sal zaino disagreed with me many years ago, but time has proven that science is not always right!
sandwich to your hearts content... no need to remove anything
and i love experimenting with different products so let us know if you do something new!
btw, bass and i agree that it really is a personal choice- i suggest you try each method (stripping vs not stripping) and decide which works best for you.
Thanks for the info guys. Is there a good carnauba that I can buy over the counter comparable to the P21S rather than buy something online?
I'd rather not have to strip if it's not needed. I've accumulated a total of eleven coats of LG, and Hell will freeze over before I do that again.

I'm on the same side with Bass on this one. I don't think you'll get any benefit to adding a polymer/synthetic on top of fresh carnauba. All carnauba's contain oils. Try getting anything to stick to oil let alone get underneath to bond to a surface. I think you are wasting your money.
you could find a body shop supply place and get some Meg. #16 - Meg #16 receives rave reviews at www.autopia.org
or
you could find a Harley store and get some S100 (same as P21S)

i can see that my post was incomplete... i do not usually top fresh carnuba with synthetics. i usually finish the car (synthetics base) with carnuba. but then when i put the next synthetic coat on (the next time i detail the car) i do not remove the carnuba. chances are not much is left anyway, but we called it sandwiching cause there is still some. btw, i often use carnuba based detailers sprays in between the details so i know that there is carnuba on the car when the zaino goes on.
our experience has been that the synthetics adhere just fine.
got over 20 coats of zaino on the car before the last polish- and i dont even know how many coats of carnuba were sandwiched in there!
currently running somewhere around 8 coats of zaino with 3 coats of p21s. and that baby shines for several months!

i use klasse SG topped with Natty's soon to switch to Pinnacle paste glaz. If i want to add another layer of SG sealant, i'll simply wash with dawn to strip the carnuba off, add another layer of SG, and then re-apply the pinnacle or natty's
Sealants don't mix on top of carnuba's well from my experience
