Default Washing the engine bay

Any specific component in the engine bay I should cover with a garbage bag or whatever before I use a wand to spray water and degreaser?

I just learned a new way to clean the engine and make it look new today. I will post pics later.

Basically spray the engine (cool) with FOAMY GUNK ENGINE CLEANER, let it sit for 15 minutes. Then spray is down completely. Immediately after spray it with FOAMY ARMOR ALL tire shine. Do not use the regular armor all, it's flammable.

After that close the hood run the engine, after 20 minutes open the hook and .

Am I missing something? I have over 17,000 miles of daily driving in whatever Mother Nature has to dish out, including salt and snow and mine has never needed to be sprayed down, yet.

There has been a little bit of dirt that has washed up under the hood, but very little. I just wipe everything down after a wash and it looks like new. This is one thing that was amazing to me...how clean everything under the hood stays.

Surely, I'm not the only one that has seen this?

S100 Engine brightener works great and is available for about 8 bux from Harley dealers. It is a product specifially designed for high temp surfaces. It provides a clean shiny appearance, can go on about anything and often provokes a "wow" from those to whom you show your engine.

I have used Citrus cleaner on my other cars. It does not contain petro products so it won't damage anything. Spray it on and watch the dirt melt away.
