Default what to do about my top...

hi, i was washing my car the other day and i found a slight tear in my top. its about 1/2 cm long. i asked the dealer about it because my car is still under warrranty but they said it was considered wear and tear. my question is are there shops out there that fixes these kinds or problems? such as sewing it or patch it up? i tried searching but i came up with nothing, thanks for the help. sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

wrong answer (from your dealer)- ask another dealer!!

we do have posts about this... for cars out of warranty. i can track one down, but really would suggest being more aggressive with dealers first.

i remember threads (i think in s2000 talk) about repairs and also about getting dealers to fix this-

how to fix it thread:
http://forums.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=81787

a guy who got honda to replace his is in here:
https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showt...0&#entry4488012

this thread indicates that it is possible to get it fixed under original warranty, but not under the extended warranty:

i agree....wrong answer, thats likely a warranty issue. Heres the deal, if its just a tear because somethin cut it like you laid somethin sharp on it....your prob... if its on the line of the caging inside which wore it out or its just premature wear they need to warranty it as manufact. defect.

Take a pic lets see.

ok, if you are sitting in your car, and right above your shoulder slightly behind you is the tear (or on passanger side) then it is very likely the tear started on the inside.

if it did, it will look like loose thread on the inside, and a clean slit on the outside.

if that is the case. .warrenty issue, that bar is rubbing against it. i just had mine replaced under warrenty.

both the assistant service manager and the service manager agreed it needed replacing under warranty but it wasnt until the district honda manager took a look at it that they could actually authorize it.

long story short, be nice and polite and make friends with the service managers at another dealer. explain to them that you believe one of the bars on the frame is rubbing up against the top and causing a tear from the inside out.

if..that is the tear you have. anything else would be on you to replace.

good luck
