Be carefull about using acidic wheel cleaners if you have rims that are coated. Even if it's a weak acid, if you leave it on for too long you could be screwed.

Here at prestige we use mild de-greasers (Ardex New-Wave 50% + 50% water solution works good) as a pre-soap treatment to help breakup the buildup on wheels if they are really heavy-soiled. We let it sit on the wheel for no more than 5 to 15 seconds which is enough for it to act on the brakedust. Then rinse off, and hand wash with soap & water.

If you have non-painted non-clr.coated wheels you can follow up with a polish, and even wax the rims if your heart so desires
