Default Windshield help.

My windshield is bombarded with specs and particles that doesn't seem to come off. I tried cleaning it with dish soap and a terry cloth and just scrubbed it but it doesn't come off. Pretty sure it's on the outside but I wiped down the inside too.

Here are the pictures:

As you can see it's pretty bad. How can I make it like new again without getting a new windshield?? Lol.

If those are "Chips" & "Nicks"........You need a new windshield !!!!!

If it's paint ???? try a razor blade !!!!

From the photo, it looks like paint over spray. Curious how the rest of the car looks..

worth trying a glass polish- with a machine ...
try small area first.
you could also try clay.

you should be able to make it better. cannot cure chips or cracks, but water spots and paint will improve.

Some of those are probably chips from small stones on the freeway. For surface impurities, I would first try wiping it down with a vinegar-water mixture. If that doesn't work well enough, you can try detailing clay. I've never buffed a window.

For last stage polish, I actually use some Quick Detailing spray/MF towel that you would normally apply to paint on the inside and out. I stay away from dedicated glass cleaners because most of these contain ammonia that can discolor tint. QD leaves no streaks and the surface so smooth that you can actually drive on the highway in the rain without using your wipers--the water will just slide upward toward the roof!

I have to disagree with Mark355. Sprayway glass cleaner is one of the best glass cleaners ever, is ammonia free, and has never hurt any tint I have used it on.

As far as your windshield is concerned, try claying it first. If that doesnt work, try some glass polish with a foam pad applicator. Always try the least aggressive methods first.

I hope it's paint over spray. But my car is red so that wouldn't make sense to have white specs. I have tried clay barring the windshield but it didn't help. Would paint thinner be okay to use? I'll of course be careful to not get it on the paint. Isn't there a product that can remove/ fill in scratches and chips from glass?

Tell your insurance company you got a rock chip...bigger than a quarter.... They will replace it....( New Glass ) I have done it two times since 2003, when mine was new.... These cars are chip magnets......

If these are chips and pits, then there is nothing you can do but replace the windshield. If the spots are contaminants, then you should be able to remove them with a good glass polish. You might try 1Z Glas Polish, preferably with a machine polisher and a cutting pad; but this will not remove scratches, pits, and chips.

Some pros have had good luck removing scratches with a rotary and the Lake Country glass polishing kit. Personally, I think it is best just to replace the glass.
