WINDSHIELD REPAIR
I wanted to give a POSITIVE report on use of a Permatex Bullseye Windshield repair kit on the S2000. At only about 1400 miles I got a stone chip/small crack in the windshield. The crack was about 1/2 in long. Usually this is the kind of thing that gets bigger over time (as soon as there is a cold day out and the hot defroster air hits the windshield it is usually all over). I figured I had nothing to lose by trying the Permatex Bullseye Windshield repair kit (cost about $8.00). I pushed the hypodermic plunger down with a bit of pressure to make sure the liquid got forced into the crack, but aside from that, I followed the instructions to the letter. Take the warning about putting a towel on the hood of the car below the repair area very seriously. The crack is no longer visible at all -- though there is still a slight chip on the surface of the glass (I think I could polish this out). Yes I do have full glass coverage --but I don't like getting windshield's changed -- and the less time my cars spend in other people's hands -- the better off they are (no I DON'T use valet parking lots). OH YES since this is is a wash and wax column -- while the repair liquid was curing (I let it sit for 45 minutes) I waxed the car with Meguiar's Gold Class, and used 3M Plastic Cleaner, followed by 3M Plastic Polish on the rear window. The cleaner alone left the window a mess -- the polish finished it up nicely.
