Feb 14 - Placed order on website for Moddiction 6 Speed Engraved Stainless Steel Shift Knob. Credit card was charged at this point in time. It never prompted me to select a colour of engraving so I emailed to follow up and make sure that I get it in the right colour engraving.

Feb 15 - No response by next day which is fine, but I was concerned the shift knob would be mailed out with the wrong colour engraving, so I emailed to follow up.

Feb 17 - Three days after I placed the order, I receive response saying the shift knob is actually out of stock and they can't ship it. Understandable, inventory errors online happen all the time. Email is polite and apologizes for the website not showing that it is out of stock and Ryan asks what I'd like to do. The same day I respond asking if he has a general estimate of when it would be back in stock since this is a product they are making in house (I think).

Feb 23 - A week later, no response, I email and follow up.

Feb 29 - Another week later, no response, I email and follow up while also making the suggestion he hire somebody to help him with customer service since I am guessing volume may be an issue. Ryan responds and says he has no real estimate of when another batch of the shift knobs will be done. I email back same day asking if they will hold onto my original payment or if I will get a refund and buy again later.

Mar 9 - A week and a half later, no response, I email and follow up.

Mar 10 - Response received, Ryan says that he can do either, it's my choice.

Mar 17 - After thinking about it for a week I asked Ryan if he has an estimate at all of when what I ordered will be available, he responds the same day saying that his guess is about 6-8 weeks for them to be in stock. On the same day I respond saying I will just wait 6-8 weeks.

Apr 13 - 4 weeks later, I ask if there is a better estimate of when it will be available now that it is closer to the end of the 6-8 weeks.

Apr 18 - Five days later, no response, I email and follow up.

Apr 21 - Three days later, Ryan responds saying they will be shipping them out in 10-14 days.

May 6 - 16 days after the 10-14 days, I email to follow up and ask if my order has been shipped. No response has been received.

As of today, May 10, it is now 3 weeks after the quoted 10-14 days and I have no response regarding whether or not the shift knob has been shipped or if the shift knob is even ready to be shipped yet.

I'm not saying the customer service is bad, just... lacking communication/inconsistent. Certain times I get a response same day, and at other times it takes weeks and I need to follow up more than once. I understand if the product is out of stock and it takes time to restock it, sure, but it took over a month just get an estimate of when it would be back in stock again.

EDIT:

Posted and realized how long this post ended up being so here is my TL;DR version:

- Ordered shift knob on Feb 14, turns out it's not in stock
- Took one month of back and forth and several unanswered emails and follow ups to get an estimate of when it will be back in stock
- Was provided an estimate that it should have been shipped out by the end of April but as of today I haven't heard anything despite following up
- Three months and several follow up emails, of which about half did not receive a response, I still have no idea what the status of the shift knob is

Will update when I eventually receive it.

Alright I think it's about time for another update.

June 10 - Followed up once again after hearing nothing. Ryan says they haven't been able to send the shift knobs out for engraving yet again. At this time I think I've heard this excuse enough times so I ask him why not. After a chain of emails, basically it turns out that there was never any real plan to actually get the shift knobs engraved, every single time I followed up he would just make up some date to tell me they will be ready by then. Not once did he ever actually have any plan to really come through and meet his quoted date. I've lost count at this point but it must have been close to a dozen times now he would just make up some arbitrary date that meant nothing. So at this point I said if you can't get them engraved by June 30 just give me a refund.

June 30 - I follow up, and of course the shift knob is still not ready so I ask for a refund.

As of today, I still haven't got my refund and haven't heard anything else from Moddiction. So almost half a year later, I'm now out the ~$100 and without a shift knob.

The part that peeves me the most is the fact that I've been mislead several times, I think I did more than my part giving benefit of the doubt several times and telling myself "maybe this time this quoted date will actually mean something".

Just sent over the refund.

Dude I have offered to give you a refund since 1 week after you placed your order. Each time I said I don't have an eta as to when they will be in stock. I offered probably 10+ times to just give you a refund and let you know when they were back in stock to which you kept refusing every time. Stop acting like I was trying to rip you off or lie to you. Never once mislead you. You kept demanding dates to which I didn't have any eta so gave a date I was hoping to get some done by which didn't happen. This is why from right at the beginning I offered a full refund and would notify you once they were in stock. If you keep refusing a refund from me you can't try and bash me saying I'm not shipping out the part. I could understand if I was refusing to refund you or something..

Just got the refund, thanks.

I disagree with your comment that you never mislead me, because there were several times which you did say "we will be shipping the out for engraving by (insert arbitrary made up date)" to which I always had to follow up weeks later.

As I mentioned to you before, refund at the time was not an option because it was a gift and so I chose to wait. Your quoted completion dates kept getting pushed back and back. So just because you have offered to refund since the first week doesn't alleviate the fact that I was in fact mislead. I didn't demand dates from you I simply asked when you think it will be available. If you had said right from the start "I have no idea when it will actually be done, you could be looking at upwards of let's say half a year wait" then that would be different. But like I said, several times you would just tell me "they are going to be engraved by (insert arbitrary made up date)", not when you were HOPING to get them done.

Apart from all this, in my original post I also mentioned several times emails were completely ignored and I had to follow multiple times just to get a response. Had I not posted on this thread you would not have replied to some of my emails. Same thing with the refund, I asked for a refund on June 30th and nothing ever happened until I posted here my feedback, and look at that, within one day now I have the refund. If I hadn't posted here, then just because you offered to refund, when would you have actually got around to doing it then? You seem to remain silent and ignore emails until something is posted here, both times in my experience.

So say what you will about offering a refund, that alone is not what I would consider to be decent customer service, especially not enough to make up for being mislead several times (see above explanation) nor does it make up for ignoring customers repeatedly.

I actually just got back into town a day ago so that is why refund was not processed until now. I have been out of the country since beginning of this month. I never mislead but you are free to your own opinions. We kept hoping to get them out for engraving but weren't able to. I could only give eta's when you kept asking, hoping we would be able to. Never did I say a guaranteed date or anything. Again, sorry for any emails we have missed. I try to get back to all as quickly as possible but some do slip through the cracks. I get alerts on s2ki whenever there is a reply so I can't miss those.

emailed them about an engraved shift several weeks ago to see when it would be available. No response. Decided to just get the unengraved one since I did not want to wait not knowing how long I would need to wait for. Minutes after order, I noticed there were 2 different prices listed on the website. One for $71.99 which I was charged, and one for $64.99 shown in the link below. Emailed them immediately about getting a refund or credit for the difference. Never got a reply. Tried calling them directly twice, never got an answer either times. Received the product today. Delivery was quick. $7 is not a big deal honestly, one value meal at McDonalds. The lack of communication though has left a bad taste in my mouth for a first impression. I don't know if I would order from them again after 4 attempts to contact them and did not get one single reply.

If ordering the unengraved anvil 2 order from here

Sorry about that! We missed some emails while we were out of town it looks like.

As for pricing the price is actually the same. Our old site is plus $7 for shipping and our new website has shipping included in the pricing already.

Either way it comes to $71.99 shipped.

Thanks for clearing that up. Like I said, the $7 wasn't a big deal. Just frustrating when I can't get in contact with a company. Hopefully this was just an isolated incident and probably will order from you again in the future

Moddiction is nothing short of awesome, extremely fast with responding to questions I had and at off hours of the night too. Ordered my Stoptech bbk and it was here in two days, I will definitely be looking to go back and purchase my future suspension from them as well since they have great pricing points for their product.
