Bought 2 of the cheap Ebay ones ( £14) about 3 years ago. Hardwired in and no problems at all with them.
Cant say the same about the Ebay card I bought though, PC World ones have been ok.
Bought them after reporting a breakdown truck almost shoved me off the road, police asked if I had a dash camera didn't so
no action taken.
I've finally taken the plunge with a dash cam - a Garmin 20 so I can swap between cars and use the in built battery. Hopefully it will never be needed but should add peace of mind
In a text book case of poorly researched online shopping, I bought a (factory refurbed) MiVue 658 Touch from this mob failing to appreciate that it only works when hard-wired. I've since bought a GoPro Hero 5 Black that can go in the car as and when for shooting occasional in-car footage. I never wanted/needed something for continual accident/incident recording.
The point is I have the thing sitting in its box if anyone wants to make me an offer before I put it away in the "Gadget Cupboard of Shame" ...
I have a Mio 538 in a box on my shelf ... the wires to 'hard wire' it are also in the box. It has been there for the past year, I will eventually get around to fitting it.
I'd like one for the Aston but would need to be battery.
The other thing is I'd prefer it was a 360 degree / 2 way as I'd be more interested in catching vandals that road incidents. Other than buying a 360 camera and leaving it in the car, seems like there's not many options.
Since my error NIP my eyes have turned to dashcams. I like the A118 size as I can sneak behind my rear view mirror and 'fit and forget'. It's not cheap but the Street Guardian v3 uses the same small wedge carcass but has completely reworked the electronics and optics with GPS. I would have to employ a certain recording regime e.g. 24/7 with accurate time/date stamping to guard against random bad speeding tickets though. Now I think about it the best defence once you know it is an automation error is what I did. Challenge. Knowing I was definitely not there helped!.
@MB: For a 2-in-1 how about the Thinkware albeit not the 360 degree scope you want. Your application is quite unusual although possibly if you have contacts there could be someone out there with the same issues. You may have to go to your own 360 degree camera and custom build the recording side
