Here's one definition:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wisdom

But to me it's the awareness that I'm not as wise as I sometimes think I am.
I see a problem with that definition.

Wisdom is the ability, developed through experience, insight and reflection, to discern truth and exercise good judgment.
Basically it's the same problem I run into every time I think about this too much. Truth itself cannot be clearly defined. "Good" is ambiguous too. Socrates got so upset over this kind of quandary that he did himself in, but I just find it entertaining.

This is a tough site for anyone who asks a stupid or naive question. Makes it hard on the true newbies.
I try to keep some decorum around here, but S2000 Talk is not a newbie-friendly environment. We created the Introductions forum to ease people into the site.

Many of the local communities are awesome and friendly to newbies.

I don't see why any part of the site should be unfriendly to new users. Anyone with a good attitude shouldn't have any problems and I'm concerned you feel that way. There is work to do if that's true.

^ Well, that's my perception, cthree. And, no argument here. There is a lot of work to do. Oh, and just to be clear, I don't see this as any worse than it was when I joined in 2002, and folks then were also questioning whether s2ki was going downhill.

I think there are quite a few folks who are willing to lend a hand and talk to the newbies. There are also folks who live to flame and end up saying nasty things to newbies. I do what I can to slam the door on them.

Quick note on the search: The general search isn't real useful, however, the forum search at the bottom of the thread display works quite well. I find almost all of my answers using that search.

Well, I've been a member of this place for longer than any other car forum around. One thing I can say is that I've learned and met alot of people. Although I don't patronize other places outside of local forum much but I do feel that the quality of this place have gone down over the years and offenders are usually by those none paying members who do not see this place nothing more than just another online forum.

I no longer own S2000 but I still feel like I belong here. So I just renewed my membership again hoping to learn more and meet more people.

When you take an ownership of a cerntain things, you start to care about it's well being. People who don't care are those who don't see values of this place thus sees it as they may and usually just another place to kill time. So say why bother being curteous to others or spend time and energy to contribute rather than throw some quick nonesense self serving comments?

What do you say to these immature people as an older member? It is easier to get into flaming war than try to let this people know we got something to preserve here. God forbid if we ever tell them anything at all. The response you get? "IT'S A F#@KING INTERNET" Some one piss on their face and yell "IT'S ONLY A LIQUID!"

It was bound to happen. It will continue to happen. As I see more and more immature people owning this car as used market is flooded with them, I see it as an inevitable turn. I will do my best to contribute but it will take more than that for this place to thrive and stay above water.

I wish my best for the communities and the future of S2ki.com. I will continue to be a member of this place because alot more good came out of this place than bad.

Long live the S2ki.com!

this forum has been around for a long time...

as far as i'm concerned the only useful how tos and tech articles were all made by xviper. i saw very few other people contributing the same information in an organized manner.

i come from www.socalevo.net where i've rigorously organized all technical information. i'm a search nazi and i've made just about every single type of aid to inform people about searching and gone to all lengths to edit helpful threads and make them easier to find.

that said... this place is a desert. maybe it's because there's much more support for evos. maybe it's because the know it alls that have been previously mentioned feel that since they know something and it's not explicitly spoken there's really no need to answer questions. the fact is i haven't seen one senior member ever hand out a link to a searched subject and unless i'm on my last nerve dealing with a repeat offender on socalevo i give the links. prolly cuz i know where it is, but know it alls... where you at?

always the same response, this has been covered so many times. why are you dragging up an old thread? but no answers... just hate... just superiority complexes and if you call them out on it then they say you're entitled to nothing because your post count and membership tenure isn't as much as theirs.

whatever it is i've already voiced my complaints. for a place that supposedly has so many senior members that are so experienced there's so little help. i can't believe how little tech is availble for a car that has so much potential for fun. there's prolly more posts about the colors of a car than anything else and that's just really dissapointing for a data whore like me.
