It seems that you have some questions, but I'll be hanged if I can figure out exactly what they are. What is it that you want to accomplish with your S2000?
short answer. turbo charged, light weight, heavy aero, wide tire, track attack.

so suspension, brakes and of course the turbocharger are pretty important since i have the rest of the equation figured out from other ventures with other cars.

i think i've just come to the conclusion that the sk2 is limited in its options so something like a full race gt35r on some motons sourced from king motorsport or jrzs from fordahl but i'm not sure fordahl still exists as of the last time i checked (of course no one had an answer for a noob like me and the obvious website checking got me nowhere).

for brakes i've conceded to deleting hte ebrake with the stop techs all around and then once i have my hands on them i guess i'll figure out a work around so i don't have a panic bar that just yanks. there has been only one allusion that this is even possible but i'm hopeful.

the fact is i don't even have an s2k, i wanted to find out that i had all the options before i got one. last thing i want is a project that i either have to fab my way through or that i'm just stuck dead in the water with.

who knows... maybe i don't "need" these things in the car... perhaps i can't make "use" of these things and i should dedicate myself to some serious track time... or perhaps that's why i kart........

i too am a 5 year member on honda-tech.
.john has been a member for 1874 days.

as a new-comer, i feel s2ki is somewhere already near the bottom of the hill.

i hope not to offend anyone, but i'll try to explain why i feel this way.

1: signatures. the giant pictures, stupid animations, cartoon cars, all need to go. they add so much un-nessicary clutter.

my two favortie boards are honda-tech and thecarlounge. both use zeroforum with disabled images in signatures. it makes for a much easier read, and enjoyable stay.

they just seem to make s2ki feel.. juvenile for this reason.

2. search. the search SUCKS here. looking for info is damn near impossible. i don't need to explain further.

3. membership. membership is cool, but im not paying someone $20 so i can sell something on here. thats bull in my mind.

i found a comptech supercharger, FULL KIT, 3000 miles with an extra supercharger with ZERO miles on it for MUCH MUCH MUCH less than anything ever offered on here. it sat for sale for days, whereas it would have been picked up here in an instant.

now, i want to resell the extra one, and i cant because i dont have $20 to spare.

deals like that are not being posted up here because you guys are limiting yourselves to people who are dedicated enough to this board to pay.

this guy that sold it to me was a frequent member on another board and had some great deals ($500 for comptech exhaust anyone?), but i doubt he could justify spending $20 just to make a for sale post here.

meh. thats just my observations. :flame suit on:

search isn't so bad if you like to open in new window see a lotta repeat threads. it's ok if you do google too.

the sigs and avatars you can turn off.

most personable forums will always have private classifieds limitations because it sucks to see your board whored for a for sale section. really bring an air of superficiality.

In fact, many of the really early owners are the most "hard core" of the S2000 family.
I purchased my car in September of 2003, so I don't consider myself an early owner, but if you consider getting sideways at 96mph hardcore, then I would like to think that I am a hardcore owner/driver.

Maybe I read too much into the posts, but ever since I started hanging out here, there have been guys complaining about the falling prices of used S2000s, and the "problems" that it (supposedly) brings to our forums. Those are the people I believe see the car as a status symbol, even if they track or autocrss the car, because I can think of no other reason for their whining. Maybe there is something else behind it, but that's the way it looks to me, and it's been a constant since I've been here.

I guess I expect "real car guys" go be able to get along, so those that don't meet my expectations end up looking like posers (to me).
Yea, it could just be me, but that's the way it looks from where I'm sitting.

I'm "older people," and don't see that younger (teens) represent anything negative, but they're going to have a little trouble selling the idea that all the old guys are failing to use the car for "what it was 'truely' made for." That's a theory with way too many holes.
i guess what i'm tryin' to say is that i've seen more of what i said... but i was trying to suggest that it swings both ways from what you said. the whiners will whine... there's never a good enough reason for it.

at least you guys don't have people crashing cars every other day driving up insurance rates and escalating police attention like they have in the evo community.

IMO, every site goes through cycles, just as life does. I'm coming up on my fifth year on s2ki and not going anywhere! Granted, I spend most of my time in the Vintage Forum (having been a founder and CO for three years), but I lurk and post elsewhere, too. Anyone who whines here will whine anywhere. I just ignore the whiners. I've gotten so much, both online and off, especially so many new friends, that any temporary bumps in the s2ki road are just that - temporary bumps.

Given what you're after I'm not too surprised that you haven't found much help here on S2kI. Most of the people here use their car as a daily driver, and most of the cars are stock. You are probably right about the S2000 having limited options, compared to some other cars, and that may be why you haven't gotten the kind of answers you wanted. There is a good deal of information on turbos for the S2000 in the FI forum, and the Racing and Competition forum is the best place to find info related to suspension tuning. I'm not sure how good the information is, because I don't frequent the forum, but for weight reduction and aero/widebody information I'd try the JDM forum. If you can't find anything useful in any of those places then your best bet might be to try to get in contact with some of the companies that have already built time attack S2000's. Other than that I can't be much help, because my S2000 is just a toy.

Our fourms do server the majority of the community amazingly well, but we can't be all things to all people (anymore than any given car can be all things to all people). If you should decide to build a time attack S2000 I'm sure there are plenty of people here on S2kI that would enjoy being kept up to date, so if you do go that route, keep us posted.

We still have too many "I crashed my S2k" threads, but I believe, at least in the S2000 community, that these threads actually help. They serve as a warning to those new to the car, or those who have been driving it long enough to become complacent. As for the number of crashed Evo's, I don' t know whehter that speaks to the way the car handles, or the kind of person who buys them, but I too am thankful that we don't see as many crashed S2000's. I really *hate* to see a crumpled S2k.

I disagree regarding the search facilities. We appear to be running on a 'crippled' search facility that offers no advanced search, no thread topic searching, date searching, user name searching, forum searching or any other type of filtered search. We used to have these facilities and they used to work properly. There is nothing 'non-factual' or 'coloured' about this.

There are plenty of excellent instructional threads from years ago buried that can no longer be found (well... found easily).

Decent search facilities are the one and only thing lacking from S2ki. They are also possibly one of the most important things for users.
