Agree on the response, thanks. But I don't read anything that's actually being fixed (other than discussion) or note any improvement?

The site was fine just before IB took it over.

This probably isn't helping but the performance of the site this morning is utterly shocking. It took me over 15 clicks / refreshes to get here. Much worse on a Sunday morning for some reason. So frustrating that for the first time since i've been on here, am I now thinking I can't be bothered anymore - it really is turning my interest away to other forums

Odd - i don't get a problem at all. The only issue i've had is occasional daytime database errors but other than that, it's fine. Pms are fine, new posts are fine, speed of loading is fine however the one thing I do that most people don't seem to bother with is block ALL the adverts from loading.

There are a LOT of adverts! I appreciate they're a revenue stream but if they slow the site and that loses you users then it would seem counter productive.

Adverts aside, this has been working fine for me

MB - have you run something like malwarebytes or safer-networkings spybot search and destroy through your machine recently or what about clearing out your temp internet files cache.

Each time i refresh the following tries to load and is blocked.

77.242.195.179
77.242.195.178
77.242.195.177
77.242.195.176
77.242.195.175
77.242.195.174
77.242.195.173
77.242.195.172
77.242.195.171
77.242.195.170
77.242.195.169
77.242.195.168

Is that really required - it's Vitalstream Inc which i suspect is some sort of advertising data system.

How are you blocking ads, UF? I have Firefox which I guess can do that.

It's something particalar to this site which people are experencing, no other BBS I go on has a problem. I'm on mega fast Virgin too!

A combination of Adblock on Chrome ( i find firefox more buggy) and peerblock

Adblock https://chrome.googl...cnamgkkbiglidom

To block spying IP and unwanted connections http://www.peerblock.com/

Spyware cleaning - http://www.malwarebytes.org/

Another good cleaner http://www.safer-net...rors/index.html - justpick from one of the mirrors.

Peerblock lights up like a christmas tree on S2ki and it's the ONLY forum site it does it on.

if you want a hand with the configuration options just give me a shout via pm if you don't want to clutter things up here

To be fair, i had this 'discussion' with Cthree and got the usual response to it.

His view as the owner was that it's up to him what he provided for us to see and my view as the user was that it was up to me what I wanted to see. Forums can add all the adverts they want and as a reasonably tech savvy user, I will simply block at source anything which clutters up my browser.

I really do think the membership fee for 'no adverts' is new money for old rope / snake oil but that's a different thing altogether

No that's good advice, we need all the help we can get here!

Sadly I can't run a lot of those things on my work PC, as it's using some sort of common operating envirnoment

Will do that on my home PC though.

No good for Ipad

To me the root cause is in whatever changed after IB took over the site.
