Just wondering if anyone in sfl has a vortec on their car? Just got my s2 a lil over a month ago and just got it out the shop. i bought the car with a vortec on it. when i got the car it was makeing a load grinding noise from the blower.. sooo i took it to a shop that works w/ vortec's, they told me it needed to be sent to vortec to be rebuilt.. well i finally got the car back a month later and it still seems to be making some noise not to mention the belt is sliping off the blower pully and their is a loose bolt in between the blower and the bracket, so im going to the shop to have everything looked over and tightend up..(from now on im doing everything my self, like i should have!) basically i just want to compare my car to another and see if their is anything i should be conserend about.. any help or advice is much help.. thanx

 

I have one, but my car is currently down. I will tell you that Vortech's are noisy. The belt slipping off is another matter. It's imperative to install the blower on the bracket per the manual. basically the bracket and blower are assembled off the car, but most of the torque is done while it's on the car in a very specific order.

check the bearing on the pulley you're having trouble with. it may need to be replaced.

Oh one other thing that might be helpful, Harbor Freight tools sells a stethoscope that is great for pinpointing where a noise is coming from, they cost about 5.00. My blower had to go back after only 200 miles on my car (I bought the blower used) and the stethoscope allowed me to determine that the gearbox for the blower was a big part of the problem.
