There are simple differnce schools of thought when it comes to Intakes.


First off, put aside the banter, you get what you want but think first.

There are a few members in the group who have PRM and they love them. I myself have the AEM V2 and realized a 5 hp gain. However, when going with an intake that draws directly from the grille, like an AEM. you risk getting water into your intake thus causing hydralock. SO if your car is a daily driver, and you choose an AEM, remember to very extremly careful on rainy days. This was not a concern of mine because my S is not a daily driver.

Do your research.

 

1. PRM sucks.

2. PRM sucks.

3. PRM sucks.

AEM V2 or Comptech. If you have money to wipe your ass with, then the Gruppe-M intake. Not sure how effective it is but it sure looks nice. Oh yea and PRM sucks.

Please try to ignore the editorial comments about the different intakes. Follow Hunter's advice, buy something that fits your budget, what you want for looks, and function.

As you see from the above statement, Mav has captured the full function of the PRM as it does suck.....air.....as with all the others.

Intake loyalty is very strong in our group. Personally, I chose not to go with the PRM as I wanted a more direct air flow. Other intakes, PRM aside, vary the size of the mouth and throat of the intake and draw air from the same area as the stock box.

I would not spend $600.00 on an intake. In all reality, your money is buying you maybe 1 or 2 horsepower. Keep you money available for exhaust, rims, coiovers, etc.

Getting back to PRM, PM RatedS2k and he will give you more insight.

Well, thanx alot hunter for the advice. I am very interested in the comptech and the aem v2. The deciding factor between the two would have to be sound, I hear that the comptech sounds very similar to stock, can anyone back that up or tell me how it really sounds? And the V2 I figure makes good sound because of the open cone filter. Now does your V2 face the filter down? Because if it does hydrolock will definitely be something to think about, since no bypass valve comes with the v2.
And no I am not looking to spend $600 on an intake it was just a figure I through out so I get a few options back, since the 1300.00 mugen intake is out of the question.

Not start this banter all over again.... I ahve had the PRM and now have the comptech. I like the sound of the PRM better. I think throttle response with both is a big improvement over stock. I have opened the side bumper vents in my car and thought the Comptech would be ideal.

I i never dyno'd with PRM, I may dyno with the comptech soon.



the PRM is by far the easiest to install, and as Jeff said, hydrolock is not a problem.
