They already have 30 rooms taken in 4 days. That leaves only 40 rooms left. If you are considering going I would suggest to make a room reservation at the hotel immediately.

I have gotten some questions on cost:

Hotel $60 / night x2
Dragon Registration $50 driver / owner $30 passenger
Gas 8 fill ups (4 going up and 4 coming back) $160
Food Saturday all food is paid for, Friday and Sunday your responsibility. (Breakfast on Sat. and Sun. is free also)

Overal, budget about $400 total for the trip. Let me know if there are any questions.

Please note that the registration fee includes your event T-shirt, lunch at a sit-down restaurant (not Subway like last time), and a sit-down dinner on Saturaday night (which we did not do at all in April).

 

What time would the group leave on Friday?

 

I think the plan this time is to leave on Thursday, do about half the drive (perhaps a bit more) that day, and then finish up on Friday so we get in to Knoxville w/ some time to spare.

In April, we left the Lake Worth service plaza at 6:30am. We didn't get in to Knoxville until about 8pm that night. It was a looooooooooong day.

To followup on jerseygirls post, probably leave on Thurs. from Lake Worth Rest Area around 6:30-7am again. Plan is to not spend the whole day driving. I trust the 2 day drive up will make it much more enjoyable. We now need to look for a hotel N. of Atlanta to stay!

The hotel that was the headquarters for SESM '04 was pretty nice. It was a Best Western on 19/400, actually about 6 miles from Dawsonville proper, and about 30-40 miles north of Atlanta (just guessing, but couldn't have been much more than that). I believe some of the folks worked out that it was about 2-1/2 to 3 hours to The Dragon from there.
