Default Rick Case

They are telling me that after troubleshooting my misfire issues, all signs are pointing to bad valves. I signed off on letting them take the head apart and check, when they told me that was the next step they wanted to take. They seem like they know what they are doing, I just cant understand how a valve could be bad when the car appears to run fine. I saw a couple threads on here that said Rick Case is good...any other opinions? Please wish me luck this isnt anything major.

I would trust them. I have had them do work for me in the past and one of there service writers (Eddy) has been a member and an owner of an S2k. He has always taken good care of me.

Talk with him, I think he is still there.

Good luck

there are some good independent shops around as well. RAW racing in the lauderdale area, and JDM motorsports in Hialeah

I dont drive the car hard at all...I might hit vtec once or twice a day if that...and that was before this cel shit started. Also the cel doesnt come on under load. It only has 20k mi on it so I doubt it has ever had a valve adjustement, but they told me it was showing low compression on 1 and 4

valve timing that's off can throw off compression numbers. if you think about it... valve's can be slightly more open than they should be at TDC. actually happened to me once. i was putting my head back on and biff'd the valve adjustment, car wouldnt' start... did a compression test and the shit was way the **** off. i thought my head was messed up till my friend help me get the adjustment straight. it's worth looking into BEFORE the head gets pulled (i thought i read you say they were going to pull the head).

they had the car for 3 hrs and told me that all signs are pointing to the valves. he said they needed to pull the head to inspect them. i said so youve checked everything you can check and rattled off all the things ive read that you have to check with this, and he says the next thing we have to do is pull the head. i reluctantly said fine on the basis that if the valves arent bad, the cost of the tear down goes towards the rest of their search. honestly right now i cant do shit but pray and hope he calls and says the valves are fine. but wtf do i do if he calls and says i got a huge job ahead?

well if it's a bent valve, chances are it would have been obvious... or most likely it would be.
